Long Lane Naturals was born from the same values that guide everything we do on the farm: stewardship, simplicity, and whole-animal respect.
We raise animals with care. We believe in using what we raise fully. And we believe simple ingredients, used well, are often enough.
What began as rendering tallow and lard for our own home quickly grew into something bigger - skincare crafted directly from the farm.
From pasture… to plate… to skin.
That’s full-circle farming.
Why Tallow?
For generations, tallow was commonly used in cooking, soapmaking, and skincare. It wasn’t marketed as revolutionary - it was simply practical and dependable.
Beef tallow has a fatty acid profile that closely resembles the natural oils found in human skin. When properly rendered and blended with intentional ingredients, it creates a rich, concentrated moisturizer that supports the skin’s natural barrier and leaves it feeling soft and conditioned.
Our tallow is carefully rendered in small batches to ensure a clean, neutral base.
In a world of long ingredient lists and synthetic additives, we’ve chosen to return to something straightforward and time-tested.

Pastured Pork Lard — Traditional Soapmaking
In addition to beef tallow, we also use pastured pork lard from our own pigs in our handcrafted soaps.
Lard has been used in traditional soap for generations. It produces:
- A firm, long-lasting bar
- A creamy, stable lather
- A balanced, gentle cleanse
Our pigs are raised outdoors on pasture, and we carry that same whole-animal philosophy into our soap line.
Farm-crafted means we use what we raise - thoughtfully and fully.
Rendered on Our Farm
The tallow used in our balms and lotions and lard used in our soaps are all rendered by us.
We render it ourselves - slowly and intentionally - right here on the farm. We dry render all of our fats and strain out impurities through multiple filtrations, including carbon filters, to minimize any scents
This is not private-label skincare.
It begins in our fields.
Our Ingredient Philosophy
We formulate with intention.
Every ingredient must serve a purpose.
You won’t find:
- Synthetic fragrance
- Petroleum-derived fillers
- Long lists of unnecessary additives
- Water (which requires emulsifiers and heavy preservatives)
Instead, you’ll find:
- Farm-rendered tallow
- Pastured pork lard (in soap)
- Simple plant oils
- Beeswax
- Essential oils (where used)
Short ingredient lists. Transparent sourcing. No unnecessary complexity.
Why Anhydrous Formulas?
Most commercial lotions are primarily water. Water-based products require emulsifiers and preservatives to remain stable.
Our core products are anhydrous (water-free). That means:
- Highly concentrated formulas
- No need for broad-spectrum preservatives
- A little goes a long way
You’re getting nourishment - not diluted product.
Our Products
At this time, our product line includes:
- Tallow Lotion - a balm-like consistency, made with tallow, jojoba oil, beeswax, arrowroot powder, and lightly scented with essential oils (unscented also available)
- Tallow Lip Balm - made with tallow and beeswax, and lightly scented with peppermint essential oil (unscented also available)
- Lard Soap - made with lard, coconut oil, castor oil, distilled water, lye and lightly scented with essential oils (unscented also available)
